Atlanta Moves To 2-0 On Season With Win Over Carolina

September 3rd, 2010

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a fast start this season, and on Sunday used a potent offensive attack to top the Carolina Panthers 28-20 at the Georgia Dome. QB Matt Ryan threw a career high three touchdown passes, including one to his new favorite receiver Tony Gonzalez. Beleaguered Carolina QB Jake Delhomme threw another interception for ten in his previous three games (including last years playoff loss to Arizona) but was otherwise much more effective passing for 308 yards and a touchdown.

NFL football betting devotees who invested in the Falcons as -6 home favorites were rewarded with the pointspread cover. The Falcons have won and covered both games this season for a 2-0 record both straight up and against the spread. The Panthers, meanwhile, have dropped both of their 2009 contests straight up and to the number.

The offseason acquisition of Gonzalez has worked to a benefit of both so far. In his first two games in a Falcons uniform the future Hall of Famer has 12 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Gonzalez wanted out of Kansas City to play for a contender, and hes found just that on a talented young Falcons team.

Gonzalez admitted that he was happy with how things have transpired thus far:

“Not a bad start at all. It’s just great to be part of a team like this.”

Gonzalezs biggest fan may be the guy charged with getting him the ball on Sundays. Quarterback Matt Ryan was full of compliments for his tight end in his postgame comments:

“He’s one of the greatest tight ends of all time. That was a huge pickup for us. He makes big plays for us in different situations when we need him. I’ve enjoyed playing with him thus far.”

Despite the loss, Carolinas Jake Delhomme was relieved to put the horrible performance of the opening week behind him:

“It couldn’t be any worse than last week. I felt good out there today. Last week, I put too much pressure on myself. This week, I got back to being just plain Jake.”

The Panthers will head to Dallas for a game against the Cowboys next Monday night. Theyll enjoy a bye week before returning to action at home against the Washington Redskins on October 11th. Atlanta has a pair of tough road games on the docket, beginning this weekend against the New England Patriots at Foxboro, Massachusetts. Theyll have a week off before a game that doesnt look quite so easy any more, heading cross country to play the resurgent San Francisco 49ers on October 11th.

A Few Online Roulette Tips For New Players

September 2nd, 2010

Playing the roulette wheel requires absolutely no skill at all and no strategy to try to win. It is strictly a game of chance which is why anyone can play and win, whether they are a beginner or a veteran player. That is what makes it so popular in casinos and online; everyone has an equal chance at winning. But some roulette tips for new players can help in getting started and knowing what to expect.

It is necessary to take some time to learn about the game and all its rules before beginning. Unlike blackjack and poker, this is purely a game of chance not one of chance and skill. You’ll want to know the rules and the ways of betting, the different payoffs, and the player odds. This will prevent you from going into the game blind and walking away disappointed.

Each spin of the wheel has the same number of odds as the last one. No spin influences another. No matter how many times someone has won in the past spins, the next one could be a loser. A ball can fall on a black twenty times in a row and still come up red on the next. Every time the wheel is spun, the odds are exactly the same as the last spin. When one is having a lucky day, play on that luck but remember that it can turn quickly.

When given a choice, many prefer the European tables to the US tables. This is because there is a very small but important difference between the two. A US table has both a zero and a double zero while the European only has the one green zero pocket. That extra pocket gives the US table a higher advantage than a European table. It goes from a 2.7% advantage all the way up to a 5.26% advantage.

Although roulette is very simple, it does have a large number of betting options. You have your straight bet, your outside bet, and your inside bet to choose from. The straight bet is the easiest as you just select a number between one and thirty six. With this you can bet on as many numbers as you want and each bet has the same odds as winning and the same payout on each win. This is where people tend to play lucky numbers or things like children ages or birthdates.

One of the best betting strategies is the outside bets. Here you have the choice of red or black, odd or even, high or low, first twelve, second twelve or third twelve. Every bet but the first, second, or third twelve gives a player a chance of winning nearly half the time. Outside bets are considered a more sound betting strategy and the payout varies on each method. For example, a ten dollar bet on black can payout at ten dollars, but a ten dollar bet on the first twelve, which is any number between one and twelve, will pay twenty dollars with each win.

The inside bets are those placed inside the grid or at intersections. These are long odds and have a better payout. This system allows you to bet a combination of numbers. For example a corner bet is the intersection of four numbers and a six line bet is the edge of the grid between two rows. The five number bet which is on the edge of the grid between zero and double zero and one, two, three is one to avoid unless really feeling lucky. This provides the house with an advantage of 7.9%, giving the house the edge.

Anyone can enjoy playing roulette with absolutely no skill necessary and still come out a winner at times. As it is all about chance, a few roulette tips for new players can let them know what they are getting into before sitting at the table. There will be days when lady luck shines brightly down and others when she is nowhere to be seen. Recognizing the time to pack in wins and cut your losses is needed in any game.

Cowboys Beat Falcons Behind Romo’s Big Day

September 1st, 2010

Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo has been plagued by inconsistency over the past two seasons, but on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons he was in top form. Romo threw for 311 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions as Dallas ripped the visiting Falcons by a final score of 37-21. Backup receiver Miles Austin had another solid game in place of injured starter Roy Williams, with 171 yards receiving and two touchdown grabs. Both teams are now 4-2 on the NFL season.

NFL betting enthusiasts who backed Dallas as -5′ home favorite were rewarded with a pointspread victory. The Cowboys evened their mark against the NFL pointspread at 3-3, while Atlanta slipped to 4-2 against the number. The 58 points scored went OVER the posted total of 48.

In his postgame comments to the media, Romo gave props to the undrafted Austin for making the best of his opportunity:

“He’s definitely a big part of this offense. I’m glad to see all his hard work and effort is paying off.”

Dallas owner Jerry Jones commended Romo on his big game:

“I think that you’ve got a wiser and you’ve got a more experienced Tony Romo than of old, and I think you see he’s still got some of that instinctive thing that he can make plays and make winning plays.”

The Cowboys’ defense pestered the Falcons’ Matt Ryan into two interceptions, and 34 year old Keith Brooking was a big part of that. Based on his comments after the game, there may be some ’sour grapes’ after he was cut loose by the Falcons after 11 seasons in an Atlanta uniform:

“The last thing I was told by one of the coaches is this is a young man’s game. I guess an old man can still play in this league.”

Patrick Crayton returned a punt for a touchdown and caught a Romo pass for another. Cowboys’ coach Wade Phillips had this praise for him:

“Crayton is the kind of guy you want on your football team. He’s going to make plays when he has opportunities.”

Losing quarterback Matt Ryan had little to say about the defeat:

“It’s frustrating because we feel we can play better.”

Atlanta has a difficult road challenge ahead as they travel south to face the red hot New Orleans Saints next Monday night. The Falcons have been installed as +10 road underdogs with the total set at 54. They’ll host the struggling Washington Redskins the following Sunday before traveling to Charlotte, NC to face the Carolina Panthers on November 15. Dallas will host the Seattle Seahawks this weekend, with the Cowboys a -9′ home favorite and the total set at 45. They’ll play on the road the following two Sundays against the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers.

A Primer On Playing Badugi Poker

August 31st, 2010

You are probably not familiar with Badugi with its weird betting structure and moves but it is big in Asia and is becoming more well known in North America. The game consists of four cards and three drawing rounds in which bets are placed and players begin to assemble that fine Badugi hand into showdown. The game is usually played as fixed limit with two blinds and similar playing methods to other poker variations. Badugi games may also include pot or no limit play, most often seen in tournament play.

Badugi Goes Like This:

To start the game, the dealer deals four face-down cards to each player, round one of betting follows starting with the player right ahead of the large blind. One can call, fold or raise up to the house limit. Players who stay with the game post-round one betting can then draw no cards at all or up to four cards. These drawn cards are not played. All players must be very cognizant of their discards and update their odds accordingly. Interestingly, similar to the streets used as terms for rounds in Texas Hold’em, Badugi uses the time of day to describe rounds.

Of special note is that successful hands are valued very differently from your usual poker version. You must be very clear on how hands are ranked, do not play Badugi unless you are. In Badugi, the only cards that count are those with distinct values and suits. So duplicates, or pairs and dual suits are worth nothing in your hand. The very name Badugi refers to the hand comprised of separate and distinct suited cards. As you compare hands, first consider the count of live cards, then the lower value of the highest card, realizing that ace is low. So, the epitome of the winning hand would contain ace, two, three and four, all unsuited. At the very bottom of the scale lies the hand of four kings.

Winning Badugi Strategy

Badugi is somewhat like 2-7 triple draw poker in it shares with it the three drawing rounds. The hand rankings are nothing alike as the no duplicate rule in Badugi is certainly not the rule in triple draw. Most poker variations will stress the importance of the player’s position at the table and with Badugi position is even more critical in determining the strength or weakness of opponent’s hands. If a player can see the draws his opponents make, he can determine the value of their hands relative to his own, many draws show a weak hand, few draws a stronger one.

Assume you have a complete hand of four cards, i.e. a Badugi and are curious about the odds of your opponents drawing to a Badugi themselves. The odds can be calculated thusly. If a player swaps a card, he must hit upon the one that does not match a suit already in his hand. The odds in this case are 10 to 52 as the player will be unable to match any of the three cards present in his hand. Also to be considered are the odds of the player drawing a card with a lower high value.

Suppose you hold in your hand a four-card ten high. In this case, the player has a 6 in 52 chance of hitting a lower, discrete value as any card higher than ten in the correct suit will not make his hand better than yours.

As the first betting round is starting up, a player has little better than a 50% chance of drawing to a unique four-card hand over each round, and little better than a 20% chance in each round.

Introducing The Fun Game Of Bingo

August 30th, 2010

Italy is the place where the game of Bingo was first played and in the early part of the century it was called Beano, probably because it was played using beans to mark the cards and make rows or columns as required for the game. The caller used discs that were drawn from a cigar box before calling out the numbers for the players to mark their cards. The one who finished first was expected to shout the word “Beano” in order to stop the game and be indicated as the winner.

The first person to develop the Bingo game into what it is today was called Edwin Lowe, him together with Carl Leffler. By the year 1930, there were well over 6,000 different bingo cards.

This game is now played all over including in the community halls and some church functions and now it has become more modern. Using a caller, the players will be around a table in a hall and the cards dished out to them. They would mark them with ink as the numbers are called out by the caller. It becomes a fierce competition since each player tries to be the one to finish first and shout “Bingo!”

With the advent of the internet, Bingo has become a game played all over the world and people do it in the comfort of their own homes.

To play online Bingo, a player needs to be registered at one of the numerous bingo websites, even for free, but there are those that ask for payment. After registration, the new member should deposit some money into the individual account.

Any deposits made to the individual accounts guarantee the player some extra credit, which are usually given to him as bonuses. The player now is ready to start the Bingo game.

People have now welcomed this new way of playing bingo online from the comfort of their own homes. Another advantage of playing online is that they are aided to mark their cards by the computer and the calls are noticed by the computer too. The automated system enables the computer to notify the person who has won by calling out “Bingo!”

The free sites may not make the member to deposit any money into their accounts but will need them to mark their own card and wait to shout “Bingo” with the computer mouse. There are halls that are categorized and players are put in separate halls with various numbers.

The author also regularly publishes articles regarding products such as skylight blind and beverage refrigerator.
